After the successful auditions of the 'Battle of the Bands' at the Wetherby Sports Association in November 2011, it's now full steam ahead for the big day.

The quality of all those who auditioned was so high, the judges could not exclude anyone from the competition at that stage - so everyone has gone through.

It's going to be a fantastic afternoon and evening - make sure you save the date!

The Coronation of Queen Elizabeth II was the ceremony in which the newly ascended monarch, Elizabeth II, was crowned Queen of the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Ceylon, and Pakistan, as well as taking on the role of Head of the Commonwealth. Elizabeth ascended the thrones of these countries upon the death of her father, the late King George VI on 6 February 1952, and was proclaimed queen by her various privy and executive councils shortly afterward. The coronation, however, was held more than a year after the accession; this followed the long-standing tradition that a joyous festival such as a coronation was inappropriate during the period of mourning that followed the death of the preceding sovereign.

On 2nd June 1953, the Coronation of Queen Elizabeth II took place, and the whole country joined in celebration.  The only problem on the actual day was the typical British weather…it poured with rain!  But that didn’t stop people all over the country holding parties in the decorated streets of their towns and cities, and in London the roads were packed with people waiting to see the processions that took place.
